The Scientific Committee invites submission of abstracts in the following categories for presentation
at the Annual Scientific Congress of the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists (MSA) and the College of Anaesthesiologists, AMM:
1. Anaesthesia
2. Pain Medicine
3. Intensive Care Medicine
All presentations will be in an electronic poster (e-Poster) format except for those selected for oral presentations for the following awards:
- MSA Young Investigator Award
- MSA Award
Please note that this is a face-to-face conference and thus submitters whose abstracts are
shortlisted for the MSA Young Investigator Award, the MSA Award and the e-poster Prizes will
present their oral or poster presentations (based on the shortlisted category) physically at the
Congress.
Deadline for Submission of Abstract: 15 June 2024 .
The Scientific Committee will review each submitted abstract and a notification will be sent to the
presenting author to inform him/her of the required format of the abstract to be presented.
Authors are required to submit their abstracts in an electronic format and shall use the electronic
template provided when submitting their abstracts.
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
- Abstracts are to be submitted in English.
- You must obtain the relevant consent and approval before submitting the abstract.
- You may be asked for more information during the assessment of your abstract.
- You must ensure that information regarding ethics approval and patient consent is readily available.

If you do not have the required consent or approval, your abstract will not be accepted.
- Abstracts will only be considered for awards and prizes if they have not been previously
presented at a scientific meeting or published in a journal.
- Authors who have applied to compete in the MSA Young Investigator Award or the MSA Award and whose abstracts are not selected can opt for the poster presentation if they choose to do so.
- Abstracts must be accompanied by payment of registration fees. If the abstract is subsequently
not accepted for presentation, the registration fee will be refunded to the author in accordance
with the cancellation policy at the behest of the author.
- The final selection will be at the discretion of the Scientific Committee.
Awards & Prizes
MSA YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD
The MSA is proud to announce the Young Investigator Award for original work in the fields of
Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine. This competition is open to Malaysians below
the age of 40 as of 1st January 2024.The award is given in recognition of outstanding original work
and consists of a prize of RM3,000 and a certificate of merit.
MSA AWARD
The MSA recognises the importance of research in the advancement of the discipline and supports
efforts to develop this activity. This award encourages medical investigators to participate in the
proceedings of the Annual Scientific Congress and prizes are given to the researchers who have
shown great achievements in research. This competition is open to both Malaysian and overseas
medical practitioners. There is no age limit.
The prizes for the MSA Award are as follow:
- 1st Prize: RM3,000
- 2nd Prize: RM2,000
- 3rd Prize: RM1,000
Certificates of merit will be given as well.
BEST E-POSTER PRESENTATION
The awards for best poster presentations are:
Research / study / audit:
- 1st Prize: RM1,000
- 2nd Prize: RM750
- 3rd Prize: RM500
Case report / case series: RM1,000
Certificates of merit will also be given.
